CERTIFIED INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
Introduction
The CICT examination is administered by KASNEB and examination held twice yearly in June and December. The examination is divided into three parts of two sections.
Holders of the final CICT certificate are eligible for admission to pursue masters and other higher degrees in reputable universities bothin Kenya and foreign countries.
General Objectives
By the end of the course, the trainee should be able to:
- Operate and maintain ICT system
- Analyze, design, develop and Implement business information processing solutions software
- Explain the role of ICT in the social- economic development of a country
- Troubleshoot software ad hardware problems
- Understand basic financial accounting
- Design, code and implement an information system
- Set up, enable and manage a computer network
Course Duration
The course is designed to take approximately Three year if two levels are successfully done in one calendar year. With examination held twice yearly; in June and December.
Entry Requirements
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with an aggregate average of at least grade C+ (C Plus) provided the applicant has obtained a minimum grade C+ (C Plus) in both English and Mathematics.
- Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) with at least TWO principal passes provided that the applicant has credits in Mathematics and English at Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) level.
- KASNEB technician or professional examination certificate.
- A degree from a recognized university.
- Such other certificates or Diplomas as may be approved by KASNEB
Examinations
KASNEB will offer the examinations. The examination entries, which must be on the prescribed forms, will be accepted from registered students only. The closing date for the receipt of entries for the December examinations is the preceding 15th August and for the June examinations, the preceding 15th February.
Careers Opportunities
This course is aimed at providing learners with knowledge and skills in information and communication technology. The skills can widely be applied in all the information and technology field at professional level in any computerized facility or organization, either as a system programmer, analyst, Network administrator, system security officer etc.

DIPLOMA IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
General objectives of the course
At the end of this course, the trainee should be able to;
- Perform systems operations duties
- Perform system analysis, design and development duties
- Perform network and system support duties
Course Duration
The course is designed to have duration of 2970 hours. 2310 hours will be spent in the institution while 660 hours will be used for industrial attachment. The course can be either full-time or part time. The course is offered in modular form and has Three Modules.
Entry Requirements
Trainees entering this course are required to have any of the following as a minimum requirement:
- Passed Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with mean grade of C (C Plain)
- Passed Craft Certificate in computer studies
- Or Equivalent qualifications as approved by the Kenya National examination Council
Examinations
The Kenya National Examinations Council will offer external examinations for Diploma in Information Communication Technology (ICT). Internal examinations will be offered by the College as coursework/continuous assessment.
Careers Opportunities
This course is designed to equip the trainee with knowledge, Skills and attitudes to perform system operations, system analysis, design and development, besides performing network system support duties.
Computer based technologies are dynamic and therefore this syllabus encourages the learner to be versed with the current trends in ICT andother related emerging issues.

INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGISTS TECHNICIANS
Introduction
The ICTT certificate provides a person with comprehensive and widely recognized qualification which enables the holder to perform the function of an ICT technician. Secondly it provides the holder with an opportunity for further progression in the professional ladder and other specialized ICT fields.
The aim of ICTT training and examination is to equip the trainee with technical skills and knowledge required to competently apply information communication technologies.
General Objectives
By the end of the course, the trainee should be able to:
- Apply Mathematical techniques in solving Problems
- Successfully run a business enterprise
- Use computer application software
- Effectively run computer networks
- Develop simple computer programs
- Apply computerized accounting system
- Manage information systems in an organization
- Support and maintain ICT equipments
Course Duration
The course is designed to take one calendar year. With examination held twice yearly; in June and December.
Entry Requirements
A person seeking to be registered as a student for this course (ICTT) must show evidence of being a holder of one of the following minimum qualifications:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with an aggregate average of at least grade D+ (D Plus)
- Any KASNEB technician examination certificate
- Such other certificates or Diplomas as may be approved by KASNEB.
